Overview
This policy covers the Mileage Cat app, made by IYIO ("we", "our", or "us"). On the App Store, Mileage Cat's privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
- No account: there's no sign-in and nothing to register.
- No analytics, tracking or ads: the app has no third-party SDKs.
- No servers of ours: Mileage Cat sends nothing to us. The only things that leave your device go to Apple's map service, as described below, or go where you choose to share a report.
Apple Maps
Mileage Cat uses Apple's map service for two things. No account or identifier of ours is attached.
- Place names: for each trip's start and end point, the app asks Apple for a street or place name. Only the coordinates of those two points are sent.
- The trip map: loads Apple's map for the area of the trip you're looking at.
Location, Motion and Notifications
- Location while using the app: records the trips you start.
- Location always (optional): lets the app notice drives while it is closed. It uses low-power location until you drive.
- Motion & Fitness: used on your device to tell driving from walking.
- Notifications: only local ones, made on your device: "Trip logged · Business or personal?" and, with Pro, a report reminder that you turn on yourself. The app asks for permission for the reminder only when you turn one on.
Your Trips
- Stored: your trips, vehicles, odometer readings, tags, saved places and the place names Apple returned are kept in the app's own storage on your device. They're part of your normal device backup, and go nowhere else.
- Reports: PDF and spreadsheet (CSV) reports are made on your device.
Settings
Your rate country and your own rates, unit, currency, default vehicle, driver name for reports, automatic trips and report reminder are stored on your device. With automatic trips on, so is the spot where you last parked.
Purchases
Mileage Cat Pro is an in-app purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles purchases.
Changes to This Policy
If the app changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date.
