Overview
This policy covers the Postcard Cat app, made by IYIO ("we", "our", or "us"). On the App Store, Postcard Cat's privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
- No account: there's no sign-in, no server and nothing to register.
- No analytics, tracking or ads: the app has no third-party SDKs.
- No networking: the app sends no text, voice, photo, card or setting anywhere. It has no iCloud sync or push. The only requests go to Apple: StoreKit for Pro, and iOS's own downloads of languages and speech models.
Translation, Speech and Photos
- Translation: runs on your device with Apple's Translation framework. When a language isn't on your device yet, iOS shows its own download sheet and downloads it from Apple; the app sends nothing in that step.
- Detect: works out the language you wrote with Apple's language recognition on your device.
- Speaking into the card: iOS asks before the microphone is used. The microphone is on only while the mic button on the card is on, and what you say is turned into text on your device. Audio is never stored or sent.
- Reading aloud: uses your device's own voices.
- Slips (Pro): read the text in a photo on your device. iOS asks before the camera is used, and it's on only while Slips' camera is open. A picked photo comes from the system's photo picker, which needs no library access. Photos are never stored or sent; only the cards you keep are saved.
The Shoebox and Settings
- The shoebox: your cards, the ones you keep and your phrasebook decks are saved in the app's own storage on your device, and in your own device backups like any app's data. There's no iCloud sync. Turn off Keep history to stop saving cards you don't keep; Clear history and swipe to delete remove them.
- Settings: the Keep history switch and your last two languages, kept in the app's own settings and read only by the app.
- Widgets (Pro): the app writes a small file that only Postcard Cat and its widgets can read: whether Pro is on, and up to 24 kept cards (both sides and their two languages). Without Pro it holds no cards. The New card control in Control Center leaves an empty request there, which the app removes when it opens.
Postcard Cat Pro
- Pro: an optional one-time in-app purchase through Apple's StoreKit. Apple processes the payment, the app reads its own purchase on your device, and we receive no purchase data.
Feedback
About › Report a problem or Suggest an idea opens an email to [email protected] in your own mail app, with the app version, iOS version and device model filled in. No card is attached. It reaches us only if you send it.
Purchases
Postcard Cat Pro is an in-app purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles purchases.
