Privacy Policy

Your photos are kept on your iPhone, in Photos and in your own backups. They leave only when you share them, and with Street address switched on, each photo's location is sent to Apple to find the address. We don't collect any data from the app.

Overview

This policy covers the Timestamp Cat app, made by IYIO ("we", "our", or "us"). Timestamp Cat sends nothing to us.

  • No account: there's no sign-in and nothing to register.
  • No analytics, tracking or ads: the app has no third-party SDKs.
  • No server of ours: the app has no networking of its own. The only network calls are Apple's: StoreKit for Pro, and Apple's map service for Street address, only when you turn it on.

Street Address, Off Until You Turn It On

  • Off by default: a free switch in the stamp editor. Its row says: "Sends the photo's location to Apple to find the address. Off: the photo's location isn't sent anywhere."
  • On: for each photo you take, only its latitude and longitude go to Apple's own map service, through Apple's MapKit. Apple answers with an address, which is printed on that photo. Nothing is sent for the live stamp in the viewfinder.
  • Apple's service, not ours: the request goes to Apple, not to us or a partner of ours. We never receive the address; it is kept only on your photo.
  • No answer: with no answer within 4 seconds, offline or without a GPS fix, the coordinates are printed instead.

Where Your Photos Are Kept

  • Photos: each stamped photo is added to your Photos library. The app asks only to add photos, so it can't read your library.
  • The photo's info: keeps the date, the time and the time-zone offset. The location goes in only when the coordinates are on the stamp, rounded as the stamp shows them, with no altitude, speed, camera make or serial number.
  • Shots list: a 1600 px preview and the stamp's words for each photo, in the app's own storage, and the full photo only while it isn't in Photos yet ("Not in Photos yet: Retry"). Like any app data, these go into your own device backups.
  • Settings: only your stamp settings and templates: the fields, the place names and note you typed, the look and the formats.
  • Your logo (Pro): a PNG of at most 1024 px, in the app's own storage.

What Leaves the App, and Only When You Do It

  • Share: a photo or a PDF photo log (Pro) goes wherever you send it from the share sheet. Where it goes is your choice; the app sends nothing itself.
  • Street address: each photo's coordinates go to Apple, only with the switch on (above).
  • Pro: StoreKit talks to Apple for the purchase and Restore.

Camera, Location and Photos

  • Camera: iOS asks before the camera is used. It takes the photos you stamp.
  • Location: While Using the App only, never Always, to put the place you took the photo on the stamp. If you chose an approximate location, iOS may ask once for your precise location, so the stamp shows its real accuracy. If you say no, the date and time still work and the stamp says "Location off".
  • Photos: add-only access: the app saves your stamped photos to Photos and doesn't look at your library.
  • Nothing else: no microphone, contacts or tracking permission.

What the Stamp Shows

The stamp shows your iPhone's own clock and GPS when you took the photo. If the clock was set by hand, so is the stamp. It's text on a picture and can be edited like any picture.

Timestamp Cat Pro

  • Pro: an optional one-time in-app purchase through Apple's StoreKit, for your own logo on the stamp, saved templates and a PDF photo log. Apple processes the payment, the app reads its own purchase on your device, and we receive no purchase data.

Purchases

Timestamp Cat Pro is an in-app purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles purchases.

Changes to This Policy

If the app changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date.
