Short answers to the questions people ask most about Card Cat. More about the app is on the Card Cat page.

Do I have to pay to print or download my card?

No. The six designs, both sides, the colours, your logo, QR codes, printing at home, the print-shop PDF, the image, Save to Photos and sharing your details as a contact are free, with no watermark, no ads, no sign-up and no account. Download as often as you like. Card Cat Pro is an optional one-time purchase for extras: six Studio designs, five more typefaces and a smaller or larger name, and taking the white background off your logo.

Open your card on the Details step and, under Logo, tap Add logo to pick it from Photos. Your whole logo is shown, never cropped; a PNG with a transparent background looks best. To put it on the back of the card, go to the Design step and set Back side to Logo. If Card Cat says "Couldn't load that picture. Try another.", the picture couldn't be opened (for example, a photo in iCloud while you're offline), so pick another or try again later.

How do I add a QR code?

On the Design step, set QR code to Save contact (scanning adds you to their contacts) or Website (scanning opens your website), then choose Place on Front or Back. Website needs your website on the Details step first; until then the note says "Add your website on the Details step to show this code." After you stop typing, Card Cat test-reads the code on its own picture of the card. If it says "Too much for a small code. Choose Website, or put the code on the back." or "The code may not scan at this size. Try another design or put it on the back.", do what it says. Before printing a stack, scan one printed card with your phone's camera.

How do I print my cards at the right size?

Card Cat makes 3.5 × 2 in cards (US and Canada) or 85 × 55 mm (Europe and most of the world). It starts with your region's size, and you can change it under Size on the Design step. Then tap Print & download (it says "Type your name to print" until there's something on the card). On the Print tab, pick the Paper: Avery 8371 (Letter), Avery C32011 (A4), or plain paper, and the note under it says how many cards fit on a page. On card sheets, print one test page on plain paper first and hold it against the sheet to check the alignment. On plain paper, use thick paper or card stock and cut along the lines. For a two-sided card, print with "Double-sided, flip on long edge", or print page 1, put the sheet back in turned over, then print page 2. Ordering from a print shop? The Print shop tab shares a print-ready PDF with bleed and crop marks: one page, or front and back as two pages for a two-sided card. Avery is a trademark of its owner; Card Cat isn't made by or affiliated with Avery.

How do I share my card as a picture or a contact?

Tap Print & download, then the Image tab. Save to Photos saves the front, and the back if your card has one, as PNG pictures; Share image sends the front. If Card Cat isn't allowed to add photos, it says so with a button to Settings, or use Share image and pick Save Image. To send your details straight into someone's Contacts, tap Share as contact (.vcf) below the tabs and send it by AirDrop or message.

Where is my card? Can I change it later?

Card Cat saves every change as you type, and again when you leave the card or switch apps. Your cards are in the My Cards tab, the one you changed last at the top: tap one to open it and edit it. A card you opened but never typed in isn't kept. Touch and hold a card (or swipe it left) for Duplicate or Delete. A duplicate has the same name as the original, so open it and change it first. Deleting asks first and can't be undone.

Where are my cards kept? Do I need an account?

There's no account and no sign-up. Your details and logo are kept on your device and in your own backups unless you share, save or print them. There's no sync between devices.

Does it work offline?

Yes. There's no account, and your cards are on your device, so you can make and edit cards, and make the print PDF, the print-shop PDF and the image, without a connection. Sending a file by email or to iCloud Drive needs one. So does a logo photo that's only in iCloud, and buying or restoring Pro, which goes through the App Store.

I bought Card Cat Pro. How do I get it on a new iPhone?

Open Card Cat, tap ⓘ at the top right of Home, then Restore purchase, under Card Cat Pro. Or tap Card Cat Pro and then Restore purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. When Pro is on, the row says "On".

Something else?

Tap ⓘ › Report a problem or Suggest an idea. If your iPhone has no Mail account set up, those rows can't open an email, so write to [email protected] from any email app.
