Questions

How does iCloud sync work?
When iCloud is on, your books, lines and covers sync through your own private iCloud database. We run no server and can’t read it. Without iCloud, Reader’s Cut works on this iPhone alone. Settings, under iCloud, shows whether sync is on.
What does Apple Intelligence do, and what if my iPhone doesn’t have it?
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s on-device model can tidy scanning slips, suggest chapter headings and write one short margin note per chapter, labelled as Reader’s Cut’s. It runs on your iPhone, and your wording is never changed. To turn the notes off, go to Settings, under Editions, and switch off Margin notes. Without Apple Intelligence (or with it turned off), chapters go by page ranges, there are no margin notes, and everything else works the same. Settings, under Editions, says which case applies to your iPhone.
How do I delete my books and highlights?
Move a book or a line to Trash (swipe it, or use Move to Trash on its page). Nothing is deleted until you remove it from Trash: in Settings, under Your data, open Trash, then swipe an item to Delete it, or tap Empty Trash. This can’t be undone. Deleting the app removes what it keeps on your iPhone; a synced copy stays in your iCloud until you remove it there.
