Short answers to the questions people ask most about Invoice Cat. New to it? Start with our guide on how to make an invoice on iPhone.

Do I have to pay to send an invoice? Is there a limit?

No. Invoices, estimates and clients are free with no limit, and so are the preview, the PDF, Send, Email and Print, with no watermark, no ads and no account. There's no trial and no subscription. Invoice Cat Pro is an optional one-time purchase for three extras: saved items you add to any invoice in a tap, invoices that repeat monthly, and statements for a client. More on the Invoice Cat page.

Where are my invoices? Do I need to sign in?

There's no account and no sign-in, so there's nothing to be logged out of. Invoice Cat saves every change as you type, and again when you switch apps. Your invoices are in the Invoices tab, newest first: use Show (All, Unpaid, Overdue, Paid) or search by number, client or item. Estimates are in the Estimates tab. Everything is kept on your iPhone or iPad and in your own device backups unless you share, save or print it. Deleting an invoice asks first and can't be undone.

Does it work offline?

Yes. There's no account, and the PDF is made on your device, so you can make, edit and preview invoices without a connection. Sending one by email or message needs whatever connection your mail or messages app needs, and buying or restoring Pro needs the App Store.

How do I add my logo and business details?

Open Business. Tap Add logo to pick it from your photos, and add your name, email, phone and address. Every field is optional. Add your tax ID if you use one (VAT, EIN, ABN, GST and so on), and under How to pay you write your bank, IBAN, PayPal, Zelle or Venmo details: they're printed on every invoice. There's no payment processor and no fees.

Can I keep my old invoice numbers?

Yes. In Business, under Numbering, set the number your invoices start at, and the same for estimates. New invoices carry on from there.

How do I add tax or a discount?

Open the invoice and tap More options. Under Tax, choose On the total or Per item, and give the tax your own name and rate (Tax, VAT, GST and so on). Under Discount, take a percentage or an amount off the total, or turn on Discount on each item. Invoice Cat does the sums; the rate and the rules are yours, so check your local rules or ask an accountant.

How do I turn an estimate into an invoice?

Open the estimate and tap Turn into an invoice, or ⋯ › Convert to invoice. The new invoice is in the Invoices tab, and the estimate shows as Invoiced in Estimates.

How do I email or print an invoice? My client says they didn't get it.

Open the invoice and tap Preview & send (Share & print on iPad). You see the finished PDF first, and can pick its design and colour there. Send opens the share sheet, so you can send the PDF by Mail, Messages or any app. Email, shown when Mail is set up on your device, opens a new email with the PDF attached and your client's email address filled in, if you added one. Print prints it. Your client gets the PDF file itself, not a link. Invoice Cat doesn't send anything on its own: the email goes from your own mail app, so check your Sent mail and the address you typed for the client.

How do I mark an invoice paid, or record a deposit?

In the Invoices tab, swipe right on an invoice and tap Paid, or touch and hold it and choose Mark as paid. In an open invoice, tap ⋯ › Mark as paid, or Mark as paid under the preview. To change the date it was paid, open More options and change Paid on. For a deposit or part payment, type it in Deposit received under More options: the invoice then shows the Balance due. Marked one by mistake? Swipe right again and tap Unpaid, choose Mark as unpaid from the touch-and-hold or ⋯ menu, or tap Paid under the preview. An unpaid invoice shows as Overdue once its due date has passed.

I bought Invoice Cat Pro. How do I get it on a new iPhone?

Open Invoice Cat, tap ⓘ at the top of Home (or Business › About Invoice Cat), tap Invoice Cat Pro, then Restore purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. When Pro is on, the row says "Unlocked".

Tap ⓘ on Home › Report a problem or Suggest an idea, or email [email protected].
