Plate Cat

Scan it. It lands on your plate.

Plate Cat is a calorie counter that keeps out of your way. Search a bundled food list on your phone or scan a barcode, pick how much (the food's own servings, grams or ounces), and it lands on your plate: each meal fills its own slice, and the rim is a target you pick yourself. Plate Cat never sets one for you, and past your number the plate is simply full, with no red and no scolding. Three thin rings show protein, carbs and fat. Quick add just the calories, copy yesterday with Undo, add your own foods from the label and make recipes you log by the serving. The food list is USDA FoodData Central; a barcode is looked up on Open Food Facts only after you say yes the first time. The numbers come from these sources and the labels, so they're estimates. Search, the barcode scanner, the plate, your target, quick add, copy yesterday, your own foods, recipes and favourites are all free, with no limits, no account, no ads and no trial. With Pro, a one-time purchase: week and month views, PDF and CSV export, writing what you log to Apple Health if you turn it on, and Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets with an Add food control.
